So, I'm still in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Working at the Park has been very interesting and enjoyable.
The summer has been wet, and seems to have just flown by. There are still so many trails to hike and roads to bike. Hopefully the second half of the summer will be dryer and I can finally get some miles under my boots and tires.

Today is laundry day, and shopping day. I was hoping to do some riding later, but it looks like rain again.

This is the first blog from my phone. I seem to have some service at my camp site.
Last night we had a bad storm, hail the size of nickels.  Wet heavy rain and high winds.

Apparently the seal around the roof hatch leaks. This was the first time I've ever had an issue with a leak in the bus. So this weekend I'll be up on the  roof with some sealant.
We saw this young moose along the Kank highway Saturday.  Thus was my first airing here in New Hampshire.

I've moved the bus to a new site, I'm still in the same campground,  just a more convenient location.

This is the camp store where I work. I've enjoyed the job so far, and I'm hoping to come back in the spring for another season.

I took this photo while mountain biking over the weekend. I love the new bike and enjoy taking it out and exploring. Everywhere you look there is so much beauty. And every new place is more beautiful than the last.

So that's it for now.
If the cell service holds out, ill post more this week.

I am currently in the The White Mountains of New Hampshire.

I am now employed for the summer as a Park Ranger at one of the state parks. I was hoping that would add some extra cash to the savings, however, as always, thing pop up and accidents happen. such was the case.
The good thing about the position, I can return next summer, or stay throughout the winter and work
at one of the mountains.

This is an older post as there has not been any internet access here in the mountains.
So today it’s raining.
Looking at the calendar I see there are only 3 more days till my job ends. This is both exciting and quite frankly, a little scary. This will be the first time in my life I will not have a job. I will have no schedule, no meetings, and no alarm clock.  I will no longer be late for an appointment nor will I have to report to anyone.
Oh yeah. I’m happy!

Looking at the bus I see all the little tasks I wanted to complete before I left. Things like building and installing screens on the windows, adding a shelve unit above the water tank for food storage.  Still don’t have the curtains back. Finish painting the exterior, and the list goes on. I have a feeling there will always be a list of things that need attention.

There will be 10 days between the last day of work, May 30th, and my departure date, June 10th. I’ll be hiking in New Hampshire for 5 days during that time. So that will leave me 5 days to complete my chores. What gets done, gets done. What doesn’t, doesn’t.

I will be working towards adding more information and photos to this blog and adding on a regular basis. For those of you who have stopped by or are following, thanks for the visit.

The following are some photos of the area I am currently staying.

Even with the foul weather, it was so beautiful in New Hampshire.
Here are a few of my favorites as we climbed the White mountains.

If I had anything interesting to say about the last 7 days, it would be RAIN!

Even with the rain, we still managed some hiking. Viewed some beautiful sights, such as Ripley Falls. These were amazing! long and sloping.
So we hiked in the rain to see water...

The bus has exceeded  all of my expectations, I've averaged 12 miles per gallon, but have gotten as high at 15 through the Green Mountains of Vermont and The White Mountains of New Hampshire.

I enjoyed the White Mountains so much, even with the rain, I'm heading back for a few more weeks!

Saturday, June 3, 2017

So today I'm heading up to New England to do some hiking with my bestie, Abby.

Been thinking of calling the bus "Jeffery the Adventure Bus." Has a nice ring to it.

Will post some pics when I can.

The new rear Bumper!

Camping Last weekend at Meadowvale Campground

A peek inside, always seems cluttered

Hanging out for the night in a parking lot.
Not the best campground, but it worked...
You can see I've begun the painting process, now just have to have a couple of clear days to finish it.

The solar panels are working perfectly. Free power from the sun!

Hanging with some friends, I have 38 more days before I retire!
It seems so odd to think that I will not have a career, much less a job...
Still, I'm looking forward to it.

Thursday, April 20, 2017

Added the solar panels to the roof. 4 100 watt panels. also added a new stereo system.
Still working on cleaning it out and getting rid of more stuff... would like to cut it all by half!

love this new stereo, 4 speakers place in just the right location to give the best sound quality!

Starting to look like an adventure bus!
Kayak on board!
Almost ready to go!
41 more days till retirement.

So the bus has been fixed!
The end result was the fuel filter. It appeared to have water in it. When I hit a series of bumps, it would spill the water into the fuel injectors and stall the motor.
The final cost, $407.00 But it is running excellent again.

I've mounted and connected the 1500 watt converter. Also installed the charge controller. Tonight I install the 4 solar panels on the new roof rack.
I will finally have free power!

51 days left before I retire.

Friday, April 7, 2017

Well, the roof rack has been built and installed.
I've also added a Thule 4 bicycle carrier to the front bumper.

Today, the bus is in the shop for a service, there has been an issue with stalling when I encounter some potholes, so in NY, that means you cant drive anywhere!
Hoping to hear back soon that all is fixed and well. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is nothing serious.

Love the ladder rack!
 Solar panels will mount here

Bike Rack

Next up, a paint job!

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Well, the bus is in the shop having the new roof rack installed!
So excited to see what it'll look like. Can finally install the solar panels!
Friday it goes to the shop for a service.
Almost ready to go!

Sink doors complete and installed.

More snow.

Abby, always in charge.

Added the closet doors over the weekend.
Along the bottom I added two slats to hold the maps. You can see them in the pictures.
Still need to stain the closet and the doors.

Below is the map holder I added. I'd like to add one to the other door as well.

Morning sunrise.

 Out for a stroll.

Bed platform built. Actually this was built 3 times and removed once to replace the walls.

The NU-WAVE stove installed. I had removed the stove and reinstalled it with a fireproof backing and hiding the propane hose.

The heater is 28,000 BTU's and has two 10 burners. I have never used both burners. using one has proved to be just fine. The mistake I made with this installation, is putting the stove to close to the front of the bus. I should have placed it in the middle of the bus. I may still do this once the cold weather is over. I added a small fan to help push the heat to the rear of the bus. So far this has worked well.

I replaced the walls with Maple plywood. added more insulation and a shelve along the top. This closed off the bottom half of the windows. The idea was to save some heat, and offer more privacy without loosing the natural light. I'm happy with the result.

Top shelve. This runs the length of the walls on both sides.

Added a small fridge, Counter top and gas stove with four burners and oven.

Love this small stove. This allows me to cook and bake. Something I enjoy doing, but never seem to have the time for.

Added window support coverings and a shelve above the counter. I like the red. I wasn't sure at first if I'd like it, but it grows on you. very happy with the results.

Added a Bar Sink and sealed the counter top.

Added two LED light strips under the counter and tapped them into the house battery bank. These lights were originally meant as accents to cars, trucks or motorcycle. Picked them up at Walmart for about $24.00. They give just the right amount of light without using much power.

WATER! what a job this was. Still have to install a holding tank under the bus, but by using a seven gallon portable water jug as a small holding tank, I can use the sink.

Last night I cut the cabinet doors out of some spare wood I had. They are Maple Plywood. The grain looks great. I have to trim them yet and still have to varnish them before I install them. but so far they are looking great.

There have been many small upgrades and builds made along the way, way too many to list here right now, but I am working on a video walk through.
This is now my home. I moved into it March 7th. I have heat and water, a bed, fridge, stove and soon a stereo system.

It has been a difficult and very frustrating build. But the result is a new home I'm pretty proud of.
That's it for now. More to come later.
