Sorry for the delay in posting here. I've been kinda busy.
So here are the updates to the cabin.

I removed the large barn doors from the front of the cabin and installed a new steel front door with window and screen. The following photos show the progress.

I removed half of the deck and placed it on the side door. Both doors now have decks.
Removal of the barn doors was pretty tough, they sure are heavy. Doing it alone was difficult and time consuming, but worth it.

This was the scary part for me. I wasn't totally sure I could do this. Building a new door frame and wall was another project I have never done. I was worried that i might not complete it in one day.
I was also concerned that it may not be level and therefore not open or close properly.

Once the frame was competed, which moved a half inch during installation, I attached the door and finished the outside wall. I had to make the adjustments to compensate for the movement. So far so good.
The whole process, minus the trim and the paint, took me about 7 hours.

A fresh coat of paint, from the Amish Barn Company. Which cost $26.00 per quart! However, I was given a 50% discount because I had purchased the building from them. It was great paint and covered in one coat, which was good because I used the entire quart.

Next came the barn board trim and moving the deck to the center. The door was complete. There was a catch when opening and closing. I was actually afraid to use it for a few days as I was sure it would just fall off.
My older Brother Mike fixed the catch in two minutes with two properly placed screws along the back of the jam... How'd he know that?

I trimmed the inside, again with some old barn boards. now I have a regular front door that locks and keeps the cold outside, but lets some light in.

Added a way too short curtain and mini blind. I am going to make a curtain I think. Will try my luck at that next week.

So this is what it looks like this morning. It is really feeling like home. It has come a long way from this...

It still looks a little cluttered, so I added the first of two closets. 

I build this one next to the front door to the left as you enter. 

Again, I've never build anything like this so it took a few hours. 

But it works for my needs. Still have to do the finishing off, but that will come later. 

I have begun to go through all of my belongings and get rid of some of the things I don't need or use. This is a long process but I'm so ready! I like the idea of simplifying my life.   

I purchased some new timber for a bookshelf, but after some consideration i realized it would not fit where I wanted it. So I used the timber and made a desk this morning.

 

I've been busy working on my new home.
I'm adding some photographs of the process.
It has been very difficult going as I know nothing about building anything.
But out of necessity here I am building a home.
And as I write this, it is cold outside, but my cabin is toasty warm. The fireplace is burning warming both my cabin and my soul. it's wonderful to be sitting in the home that I build and be warm and dry, and comfortable!

 This is the building empty of anything but bare walls, nothing more than a shell.

 Beginning the deck. In the rain.

 The deck is constructed from reclaimed timber. I've tried to use as much reclaimed items as possible

 This is the cabin at dusk  on a full moon, with the lights on! which I installed. I installed all the electric!

 Installing the electric. What a job that was. "It's not like plumbing, there is no second chance with eletric", I heard that a lot.

 Adding insulation walls and ceiling.

 This is a reclaimed fridge. I found a sandwich in it, I think it was a sandwich. It took two weeks to clean it and remove the smell! but it works great

 This is an old gas stove I reclaimed from an old camper. I sanded it and cleaned it up. It also works great!

 My new fireplace! Love this thing.

 I installed a composting toilet. This was more nerve wracking then the electric. I was sure there would be an odor. turns out there is no smell what so ever! So grateful!  I purchased this about 4 years ago. I was sure I could use it one day. I paid $325.00 it is now listed on the net at $2,500.00 !

 Notice the different ceiling.I did not know I had to keep the vents open for air circulation. I also had to add a barrier between the roof and insulation. I had to remove the insulation, add a dropped ceiling and reinstall the insulation. Lesson learned.

 Added carpet and a new vinyl floor.

 Used old barn doors for the windows. it came out very nice!

 Added a counter top that I made. A reclaimed double stainless steel sink and faucet. Built in the stove, build cabinets and a shelve. Still working on the plumbing. Water will be stored in a tank under the counter and pumped into the new hot water heater, 7 gal electric (I still have to wire that in) and into the bathroom and sink. Bathroom still in the works, toilet in, but tub/shower not yet. 

 Turned on the fireplace, it was cold. It works great! and boy does it heat!

 New wall behind the fireplace, I like this, it came out nice. And I even cut the outlet holes!

Added the back wall panels. It is wainscoting, I'll stain it over the winter.
So that is the build as of now. I also had internet service added. Just like home!
